Calendar: Today the calendar routine was led by Insiyah!

Language: Today, the students were introduced to consonant-vowel-consonant (CVC) words. We started with reminding ourselves our vowel sounds and then working on CVC words that start with b and c. We did some as a class on the board then we worked individually at our desk with b and c CVC words.

Recess 2/Snack
French: Students were in the Library with Mrs. Hayward
Math: The students practiced identifying 2D and 3D shapes by sorting many different shapes.

Unit of Inquiry: The students reviewed transportation that travels on water and designed their own sail boats.

ACTION

Action is a very significant aspect of the IB learning process. In the PYP Program, students will engage in 6 Unit of Inquiries (UOI) throughout the school year, with each unit being approximately 6 weeks long. During each UOI, 3 students from the class will be assigned as the “Action Stars”, which means that they are encouraged to use what has been learned and apply it to the “real world.” The purpose of this initiative is to help further knowledge about what has been learned within the classroom. Example: If we are learning about recycling, students might go home and tell you that they want to implement a recycling program with you at home, or they may do something simple like telling you that something you were throwing in the garbage may be recycled. Students who are not assigned this role for the current UOI being taught are still encouraged to show ACTION! Action comes in many forms; it might be something small to something very large, but as long as the children understand the concepts, action is important no matter the size! Please check out our Action board in our classroom to see all our fabulous learners.
